Br. Thomas Piolata, OFM Cap., is pursuing a cotutelle doctorate in theology at Durham University (UK) and the Pontifical Antonianum University (Rome). He is also a doctoral fellow of the Collegium Sancti Bonaventurae in Rome. Interested in the Franciscan intellectual tradition, Br. Thomas' dissertation is on the finality of the Holy Spirit in St. Bonaventure's theology.

This book examines various dimensions of the original setting, passion and idealism of the founding era of the Franciscan movement.
