A Liturgical Legend in the Tradition of the Friars Preacher - 836

Lesson IX

Given these prodigious signs and innumerable others proven by the statements of witnesses, Pope Gregory hastened to Assisi, where a multitude from every nation had gathered. After the joyous celebration of the holy man, he reverently enrolled blessed Francis, whose teacher and instructor he had been, in the catalogue of saints. And in his name, he had a church of wonderful grandness built. He laid the first stone of the foundation, and not long after that, his most sacred body was buried with marvelous reverence. He died in the one-thousandth, two-hundredth, twenty-sixth year of the Lord.
