14 And He complained to her that His name was not sufficiently mentioned by or among the brothers. One of the older brothers said: "Three things have caused a great wound in my Order: change of place, the care of monasteries, and ambition for studies."a

15 Always loving what was done in common, blessed Francis avoided in everything singularity, which reeks of every vice. "Singularity should always be avoided," he said, "since it is nothing other than an abyss and destruction."
