By Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv

The Franciscan School of Theology hosts a variety of lectures from world-class theologians across the globe in this unique series.

A key moment in the conversion of Francis of Assisi was the invitation he received from the Crucified Christ to rebuild the Church. While his literal response got him started with the fraternity and movement he started, Francis became a force for renewal of a Church in need of the infusion of God’s Spirit. What does Francis of Assisi and his approach to the Gospel say to the Church today? How can we face the consequences of sexual abuse and cover-up scandals, the Covid-19 pandemic, political divisions in church and society, and the infection of systemic racism with a spirit of Franciscan renewal?
